Gladys A. Weis, 84, of Shalersville Township, died Thursday, May 14, 2015. She was born June 12, 1930 in Windham, Ohio to Elmer and Ethel (Shively) Porter. Gladys was a member of the Hiram Christian Church and retired from Crestwood City Schools.
After graduating Hiram High School, she worked for the county library, as a telephone operator. and then in a bank in Cleveland and rode the train from Jeddo everyday.
She married Herbert Theodore Weis on May 26 1951 in Portage County. Not able attend college, she was a busy stay at home mom who served as President of the Brecksville PTO. She worked at the Crestwood schools in the cafeteria after they built their home in Shalersville.
Survivors include her daughter Geri (Peter Snitzer) Weis of Solon, sons Eric (Julie) Weis of Richfield and Glen (Patti) Weis of Wadsworth, grandchildren Brandon (Sarah), Alyssa and Seth, great granddaughter Abby Lee, sisters Wanda Vasarhely, Ruth Marlewski, Barbara Biltz and Linda Hrobak, brothers John, Richard, James and Harold Porter and dear friend Harold Taylor. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Herbert in 1991 and a brother Charles Porter.
Calling hours will be from 10 AM until time of services at 11 AM Monday, May 18, 2015 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Streetsboro Chapel. Reverend Michael Fetty will officiate.
