Helen M. Bowsher-Coonrod, 91, Monticello, rural White County, died at 6:10 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at the Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare Center.
She was born in Monticello on Nov. 8, 1915, to Fred and Ada (Wilson) Bowsher. She married H. Eugene "Gene" Coonrod on Dec. 24, 1938, in Monticello. He survives.
She was a lifelong resident of the Monticello area. She was a housewife and a real estate broker for McKnight Real Estate. She also was a member of the Sitka Baptist Church in rural White County and had taught Sunday school for many years. She was also a member of the ladies aide, also of the Sitka Baptist Church. In her earlier years she was very active in her home economics club.
Other survivors include daughter, Jacquie (Verne) Wilson, Monticello; son, Max Coonrod, Monticello; grandchildren, Kelly and Kirby Davis; Lori and Harry Smith; and Scott and Sara Wilson; and five great-grandchildren.
Her sister, Josephine Townsley, and brother, Warren Bowsher, are deceased.
Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Saturday at Miller-Roscka Funeral Home, Monticello. Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Dr. James Elliott of the Sitka Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Hughes Cemetery, rural Monticello.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be given to the Sitka Baptist Church with envelopes available at the funeral home.
