Died: 01-13-2006 James (Monroe) Willis, age 63 of Newport went to be with his Lord Friday evening January 13, 2006, following a lengthy illness. Monroe was a farmer and attended Parrottsville Memorial Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Edna Caroline Mooneyham Willis; parents, James Wiley and Annie Mae (Banks) Willis; one sister and one brother also preceded in death, Viola Fox and Roy Willis. Monroe is survived by his daughter, Lura Mae ‘Penny' Willis, of Newport; seven sisters and three brothers-in-law, Vista Walker, of Del Rio; Kathleen and Deadward Toby, of Bybee; Thelma and Hubert Jr. Hill, of Del Rio; Beulah and Claude Grigsby, of Del Rio; Rachel Fox, also of Del Rio; and Lucy Messer, of Del Rio, and Jennette Young, of Hendersonville, NC; three brothers, Paul Willis and Ephraim Willis, both of Del Rio, and UA Willis, of Newport. Monroe will be missed by many dearly loved nephews and nieces and cousins and friends. The family received friends Monday, January 16, 2006, at Brown Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday January 17, 2006, at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eddie Frazier officiating. Interment will follow in Payne Cemetery in Max Patch, NC. Brown Funeral Home has been honored to provide final arrangements for Mr. James (Monroe) Wills.
