LEESVILLE - Samuel Ingram Shealy, 88, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2011. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 2, 2011, at Nazareth United Methodist Church with interment in the church cemetery with Rev. Franklin E. Copeland and Dr. Elton Dunbar officiating. Pallbearers are Charles Shealy, John Shealy, Wayne Corley, Robert Corley, Don Myers, Jimmie Myers, Mark Shealy and Mike Shealy. Honorary pallbearers are Donnie and Marcia Black, Larry Shealy, Circle Fire Dept., and Mamie Black Sunday School Class.
Mr. Shealy was born in Saluda County, SC, son of the late Sammie B. Shealy Sr. and Lena Mae F. Shealy. He was a member of Nazareth United Methodist Church and choir director. He was an Army veteran of World War II and served with the 227nd Field Artillery Bn. He was a member of Saluda Masonic Lodge # 103. He was a member of Circle Eastern Star and chaplain with Circle Fire Department.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret T. Shealy; daughter, Sandra Hendrix; daughter-in-law, Shirley M. Shealy; grandchildren: Jeff (Carole) Shealy, Karen S. (Barry) Brown, Kim (James) Childers; sisters, Dorcas (Leon) Corley; Lena Duncan; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Shealy; stepchildren: Joye (George) Satcher; Carol (Carolyn) Taylor; seven great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren and five stepgreat-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Beatrice F. Shealy; a son, Thomas I. Shealy; granddaughters, Lynn S. Evett and Susan Shealy; brother, Earl Dean Shealy, Sam (Linda) Shealy; stepson, Larry M. Taylor; and great-grandchild, Tristian L. Childers.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, October 1, 2011, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to: Nazareth United Methodist Church, Circle Fire Dept. and Agape Foundation. Milton Shealy Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
