Cora Lee Winn Coates was born in Marquette County, Michigan, Nov. 6, 1875. She was married to Joseph Coates at Pleasant View, Wis. March 27, 1895. She died at her home in New Diggings Township, Lafayette County, Wisc. Feb. 20, 1903, at the age of 28 years, 3 months and 14 days.
She leaves to mourn her untimely death, her husband, Joseph Coates, an infant in arms, her father and mother, three sisters and four brothers, and many distant relatives.
She was reconciled to die but retained a loving care for those she was leaving to grieve, until the last moments, even cheering her little child after the last struggle for life had begun. A great multitude of people followed in the funeral procession from Pleasant View, Strawberry, Rowesville, Jenkinsville, Leadmine and New Diggings.
Services were conducted by Rev. Peavey of Pleasant View and Rev. Lindsey of New Diggings. She was buried Feb. 22, 1902, at Leadmine. She died in the hope of immortality and eternal life.
