Arrangements for Harlin Akard, 54, former Lubbock resident are to be announced by Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home.
The retired Army career man was found dead about 6 p.m. Thursday in an El Paso hotel room. Akard had served in the U.S. Army 25 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Janice Chapman, 2105 5th St.; two sons Fred Harlin Akard, 2105 5th St., and James Akard, Lovington; two brothers, Hugh Akard, Lubbock, and Mozell, Garland; a sister, Eula Faye Wood, Sand Springs, and his father, John Akard, Amarillo.

Services for Harlin Akard, 54, a former Lubbock resident will be conducted here at 2 p.m. today at the Plains Baptist Church with the Rev. Peyton D. Fullingim, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in City of Lubbock Cemetery by Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home.
