CIVIAL WAR VETERAN DIED MONDAY NIGHT
Last Rites of Henry S. Vanderhoof Held Today

The funeral services of Henry S. Vanderhoof, Civil War veteran and an old and highly respected citizen of this community, will be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Methodist church, Rev. R.J. McKenzie officiating.
Mr. Vanderhoof had reached the age of eight0one years at the time of his death which occurred Monday evening at 10 o'clock and was due to heart failure. He had lived in Nebraska since 1872 and was active in the real estate and insurance business until the time of his death. In the early years he conducted a grain business in Seward.
He was born May 2, 1848, at Niles, Michigan, and came to Lincoln in 1872, but moved to Seward in 1875, where he has since resided. He served two years during the Civil War and was a member of the G.A.R. post at Seward.
He is survived by his wife and three children: Dr. Tom Vanderhoof of Scottsbluff, Dr. Don Vanderhoof of Scribner, and Miss Vesta Vanderhoof of Seward. Full military honors were tendered the remains the local Machine Gun company and Legion post supplying a firing squad, color guard, and bugler. As a mark of respect for their departed associate, the business men of the city closed their places of business from 2 to 3 o'clock, the hour of the funeral.
