David I. Bennett was born July 19, 1879, in Artemas, Bedford County, Pennsylvania, the son of Rev. John and Anna Catharine Sowers Bennett. On April 24, 1906, he married Cora Agnes Ranck, daughter of Philip and Lucinda Bucher Ranck. They were the parents of 2 sons: Robert A. and Melvin Ranck Bennett.
