Arthur Woolwine Keating, the son of John Richard and Maria Woolwine Keating, was born in Panola County, Texas. His father was a veteran of the Civil War. His mother's first husband, Lucian Polk, died during the war leaving her a widow with two two young sons.. After the war, she married Arthur's father and they lived in the Woods community of Panola County. he was still young when his mother died. She was buried in the Taylor family burial ground on the Taylor Plantation where her father, Dr. William Woolwine, had been buried earlier after contracting the illness of a patient and dying while visitiing his daughter and her family. The cemetery is now referred to as the Woolwine - Taylor Cemetery
