Harvey Lee Stine 1923-2005

Harvey Lee Stine, 82 of Independence, Mo., passed away Saturday, October 15, 2005, at his home. Harvey was born June 22, 1923, in Peculiar, Mo., to Charles and Myrtle (Urton) Stine. He grew up in Peculiar and graduated high school there in 1941. He then went on to serve in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II from 1945-46. He worked at the Standard Oil Company refinery in Sugar Creek from 1947 until he retired in 1980. He was an active member of the New Walnut Park Community of Christ where he had served as an elder and had been a volunteer chaplain at The Groves for over 20 years. He was married to Rose Ellen (DeLong) Hodson on July 3, 1969, she survives of the home.

Other survivors include; a son, Larry E. Hodson and his wife Jean of Lee's Summit, Mo.; a daughter, Susan Renee Binnicker and her husband, Larry of Independence, Mo.; a sister, Mildred O. Dobson of Peculiar, Mo.; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer Riedel, Christopher Hodson, Paul Binnicker and Matthew Binnicker; 5 great-grandchildren, Jake Riedel, Justin Binnicker, Ethan Binnicker, Peter Hodson and Emily Binnicker and several nieces, nephews and a host of friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Emmett Stine, Harold Stine, Clarence Stine and Paul Stine.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 19, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Mound Grove. The family will greet friends from 1 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the chapel.
