Services Held For Johnathan Harvey Wednes.

Impressive funeral rites were conducted Wednesday afternoon in the Third Ward L. D. S. Chapel for Johnathan L. Harvey, respected pioneer of this city who died Sunday at his home here.

The service began at 2 o'clock with Bishop Neil Y. Fugal in charge. The opening prayer was offered by a Neils Fugal and was followed by a mixed quartette who say "Come, Come Ye Saints." Personnel of the quartette were Mrs. Lydia Hilton, Mrs. Pearl McMillen, Irwin Jensen and Earl A. Beck. They were accompanied by Miss Carol Clark.

A sketch of Mr. Harvey's life and activities was reverently given by his daughter Mrs. Lucile H. Walker. A poem paying tribute to Mr. Harvey was read by a son in law Robert McOmie of Salt Lake City.

E. F. Walker also a pioneer, spoke words of encouragement and bore a strong testimony of the truthfulness o the Gospel.

Miss Kathryn Chipman, a granddaughter accompanied by Miss Carol Clark sang "O Dry Those Tears."

President Merrill N. Warnick paid tribute to the Harvey family and spoke of sympathy.

The next speaker was Bishop Joseph Olpin of Heber, who likened this world to a nursery in which God gives his children space to grow.

Bishop Neil Y. Fual made closing remarks of tribute and appreciation, and the closing musical number was an instrumental selection played by a string trio, Mrs. Calvin Jacob, Violin, Mrs. Warren Kirk, Celol, and Mrs. Wilford Woolf piano.

Mayor S. Duane Harper pronounced the benediction.

Interment took place in the family plot in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery where J. Fred Scholes of the Third Ward Bishopric offered the dedicatory prayer.

Pall bearers included Leo P., Wm. C., and Dean Harvey, sons of Mr. Harvey, and J. H., Gene, and Kenneth Harvey, grandosns [sic}.

He was born March 8, 1855, at Cedar City but came with his parents to Pleasant Grove when he was 3 years old and had lived here all his life.

He married Helen Alexander of Provo in the Salt Lake Endowment House, December 30, 1880. They made their home in Pleasant Grove where they raised 9 children, eight of whom are living. He was a successful farmer.

Prominent in civic affair he served as Mayor of Pleasant Grove, was a member of the city council for seven terms, precinct justice for 6 years and chairman of the school board. He was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, was a member of the High Priest Quorum at the time of his death.

Surviving are the following daughters and sons: Mrs. Effie H. Chipman, Mrs. Katherine H. McOmie, Dr. D. A. Harvey, all of Salt Lake; W. C. Harvey of San Francisco, Calif; Mrs. Helen H. Kellerman of Berkeley, Calif.; Mrs. Florence H. Tyler of Riverside, Calif., and Mrs. Lucile H. Walker and Leo P. Harvey of Pleasant Grove; 21 grandchildren and 10 great-grand children two sisters, Mrs. Jane Herron of Salt Lake and Mrs. Flora Sundberg of Los Angeles.
