"Abraham lived his youth and early married life at Steuben, N.Y. After a few years of farming in Steuben township, he and his family moved back to Cape Vincent in the spring of 1837 where they lived with the John Esselstyns. The family was in Cape Vincent, N.Y. until April 1855 when they moved to Marshall, Mich. Abraham is listed in 1869 in Marshall as a dealer in flour and feed, and as a wagon maker. They both died at Marshall where they are buried. He was commonly known as Nelson A. Brooks."
