FORMER RICEVILLE MAN VICTIM OF CAR-TRAIN CRASH

Riceville – Clinton Cecil Foote, 30, Washburn, formerly of Riceville, was killed early Tuesday when his car plowed into a freight train at Gilbertville, near Waterloo.

Police said Foote apparently did not see the train which had slowed dow to pick up a box car when the accident occurred.

The train was northbound from Cedar Rapids to Waterloo. Train officials said it was an "extr" freight, not normally scheduled at that time.

Clinton Foote is survived by his wife, five children fom 1 to 6 in age; his father, Cecil Foote, Riceville; three sisters; Mrs Albert (Wilma) Thurnau, Osage; Mrs. Karl (Bertha) Brigson; and Mrs. Martha Roethler, both of Waterloo.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

BURIAL AT RICEVILLE FOR CECIL FOOTE

Riceville – Funeral services for Clinton Cecil Foote, who was killed Tuesday in a car-train crash at Gilbertville, were held Friday at the Washburn Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery, Riceville, Friday afternoon.

He was the son of Cecil Foote, Riceville, and was living in Washburn.
