David R. "Bibs" Russell, age 66, of Casey, IL. passed away at 8:57 PM on September 27, 2011 at the Casey Health Care Center after a 17 year battle with Parkinson's disease. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday October 1st 2011 at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, IL. with Tom Marsh officiating. Visitation will be on Friday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral chapel. Burial with Military Rites will be in the Janesville Cemetery. David was born in rural Lerna, IL on August 25, 1945 to Lewis & Phyllis (Best) Russell. He graduated from Charleston High School in 1963; he served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War from 1965 to 67. He married Connetta "Connie" Lashbrook on September 6, 1969. Surviving is his loving and dedicated wife of 42 years, sons John D. wife Kathie Russell of Casey, IL and Greg wife Amber Russell of Toledo, IL; brothers Roger wife Betty Russell of Westfield, IN and Steve wife Linda Russell of Trilla, IL and a sister Hilda husband Carl Trent of Terre Haute, IN; grandchildren Alexis Russell of Casey, IL, Jackson and Jasper Russell of Toledo, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents. David owned and operated Russell Engineering for over 26 years, he was widely known as a very talented fabricator and auto mechanic who always had a need for speed, he loved drag racing and built many motors for people in drag racing and tractor pulling. He was a member of the National Hot Rod Association, the Casey First Baptist Church, and the Casey V.F.W
