BRISTOL - Arthur F. Babcock, 87, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011, in Helen Porter Nursing Home in Middlebury.

He was born Nov. 2, 1924, in Williston, Vt. the son of Henry and Frances Thompson Babcock.

He was employed at Middlebury High School for 25 years. He was a member of St. Ambrose Church in Bristol and Bristol American Legion Post #19.

He served in the US Army during WWII.

Arthur is survived by a sister-in-law, Olive Babcock; several nieces and nephews, Marcia Owen and husband Clarence of Bristol, John Babcock and companion Penny of Middlebury, Dawn Blow and fiance Shawn of Shelburne, James Babcock of Williston, William Babcock Jr. and wife Linda of Williston, Laura and Chuck Barrows of Hinesburg, and Henry and Stacey Babcock of Leicester; several greatnieces and great-nephews. Close friend Eric.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 3, 2011, at St. Ambrose Church in Bristol. Interment will be in Mt. St. Joseph Cemetery in Bristol.

Friends may call at Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Bristol on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011, from 2 to 5 p.m.
