WALTER J. GMYR

Services for Walter J. Gmyr, 75, of Syracuse, who died Wednesday at Crouse Irving Memorial Hospital after a long illness, will be at 8 a.m. Saturday at Giminski-Wysocki Funeral Home and 8:45 a.m. in Transfiguration Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Resurrection Mausoleum, DeWitt.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, 1320 W. Genesee St.
A life resident of Syacuse, Mr. Gmyr retired in 1978 after 41 years with Chrysler Corp.'s New Process Gear Division.
He was a World War II Army veteran, serving in five campaigns: the Ardennes, Central Europe, Normandy, Northern France and the Rhineland. He received several distinguished service medals and ribbons.
Mr. Gmyr was a communicant of Transfiguration Church and a member of its Holy Name Society.
Surviving are his wife, the former Lucille Zacharek; three sons, Gerry of Ashville, N.C., Dan of Syracuse and Terry of Fayetteville; a brother, Chester of DeWitt; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Contributions may be made to Transfiguration Church or Alzheimer's Foundation of Central New York.
