Irad Wilson was a successful physician in Bradford County, Pennsylvania. He began his studies for the medical profession at the age of sixteen under the tutelage of his uncle, Dr. Reuben Rowley.
In 1834 and 1835 Irad Wilson was active in the state militia. He served as a Captain and as a Colonel.
In 1827 he served as the first Postmaster of Alba, Pennsylvania. He served in that capacity until past his eighty-fifth year.
He served as the Bradford County commissioner in 1839.
In 1844 Irad Wilson was elected to the Pennsylvania State Legislature and then reelected in 1845. He was paid three dollars a day plus traveling expenses not to exceed one hundred days. For every day over one hundred days he was paid one dollar and fifty cents.
Irad Wilson was a member of the Trojan Lodge, No. 306 in Canton, Pennsylvania and was a Pastmaster, 1863 - 64.
He died at the age of 86 years, 5 months, and 14 days.

Irad Wilson, who died at Alba on the fourth of this month, was one of the most prominent citizens of this part of the country. He was county commissioner in 1839, and in 1843 he was elected Representative to the state legislature. He was born in Vermont in 1798, and had resided in Alba since 1803, when it formed part of Burlington township. He had watched the growth and development of this portion of the country with great interest, and his loss is keenly felt.
