~~~~~~~
On coming to Jefferson Co., PA in 1840, Henry bought 213 acres of woodland which he transformed into a home, clearing it and making improvements from time to time as his means permitted. His first residence was a log house, and the barn which he built at the time was primitive order of architecture. In 1861 he built a commodious frame residence of modern style, and in 1878 he erected a large bank barn, these and other improvements making the place one of the best in the vicinity. He was a generous supporter of schools, churches, and all charitable movements, and for years was a consistent member of the M.E. Church. In politics he was a Democrat.
