Wanda Jensen, 87, of Idaho Falls, died January 22, 2004, at a Nampa hospital in Nampa, Idaho.
She was born December 24, 1916, in Moore, Idaho, to William Edward Hammond and Merle Harriet Green Hammond. She spent her early years in the Arco area, then moved to Pocatello with her family when she was 12 years old, where she attended schools.
On July 10, 1941, she married Kenneth James Jensen in Livingston, Montana. She worked as a waitress at Fred & Kelly's in Pocatello, and the Rogers Hotel, Ponderosa, Topper Club, and Tom's Landing in Idaho Falls. She was a member of the Uptowners Band and played in Idaho Falls during the 1940s. She was a piano player, banjo player and singer. Her husband died October 26, 1982.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved music and baseball and never missed an Idaho Falls team game from 1948 to 2001. Wanda was a loving mother with a fantastic sense of humor and was loved by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; until the time of her death, she was under the excellent care of her granddaughter, Lori; grandson, Don; and daughter, Merle.
Survivors include her daughter, Merle Marie (Bob) Smith of Riggins, Idaho; a son, Jack Jensen of Idaho Falls; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson and two brothers.
Graveside funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 24, at the Annis-Little Butte Cemetery in Annis, Idaho. Arrangements are under the direction of Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave. in Idaho Falls.
