Eddie Ray Blevins, 90, of Sophia, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 25, 2011.
Born October 19, 1920, he was the son of the late AHart and Francis Farmer Blevins.
In addition to his parents, Eddie is preceded in death by his wife Frankie Blevins and son William Blevins.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Deliliah Blevins Shamblin of Fayetteville, N.C.; two grandchildren, Dennis Edi Ra Shamblin Sr., Charles McDonald Wyatt; three great-grandchildren, Dennis Edi Ra Shamblin II, Jessica Kaylee Shamblin and Jackson Wyatt Duranceau; sister, Doris Mills of Hinton; brothers, Blain Blevins and wife Doll of Indiana, Oakley Blevins and wife Peggy of Hinton, George Blevins and wife Rachel of Mt. Airy, N.C.
Eddie enjoyed fishing, reading and was a retired coal miner. Eddie was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 30, 2011, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley with Elder Keith Mills officiating. Burial will follow Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
Friends may gather with the family Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations may be made to The Grace Primitive Baptist Church, Shady Spring, W.Va.
