Garland Leroy Nuby served in the COX U.S. Navy during World War II.


Mr. Nuby was partners/operated of the Somerville Taxi Cab Company with his two brothers' during the 1940's. He served as a Decatur Policemen and Morgan County Sherriff deputy. He worked at Fontaine Truck Equipment during the 1950's. He also served as a volunteer firemen for the City of Hartselle, Alabama.


Garland and his father, Benjamin Nuby, managed the Nuby's Gulf Gas, Service Station Convenience Store on Highway 31 North of Hartselle, Alabama until it closed in the early 1970's. In the 1960's, Garland bought and operated the Gulf Station at Flint City, Alabama for a short time then leased the station out. During the 1970's, he worked for a Construction Company until his death in August 1978. He helped his parents with the farm and was a good son, uncle, brother, and a good friend to all and will be greatly missed by all.


Mr. Nuby was a member of the First Church of God, Hartselle, Alabama.
