On Jan. 10, 1694/5 at Windsor, Conn., Samuel m. Elizabeth Gaylord, dau. of John Gaylord and Mary Drake, b. Feb. 19, 1670/1. She d. Dec. 12, 1727 at South Windsor, Æ 57 (g.s.). They had the following four known children b. at Windsor:
• i. Elizabeth Rockwell, whose birth date is not of record, d. Nov. 8, 1781 at East Windsor, Conn.; m. July 9, 1722 at Windsor, Capt. Thomas Grant (called Thomas, Jr. in the Windsor VRs), s. of Tahan Grant, Jr. (Tahan,2 Matthew,1) and Hannah Bissell, b. Oct. 12, 1692 at Windsor. He d. Oct. 18, 1769 at East Windsor, Conn. (g.s.) Four children recorded at Windsor, Conn. In Dea. Samuel Rockwell's 1725 probate record, Thomas Grant is called Samuel's son-in-law and was appointed with Samuel's widow administrator of the Rockwell estate. Like his wife, Thomas has no recorded birth in the Windsor records, but his identity is proved by the 1693 and subsequent probate record of his father as well as his own gravestone.

• iii. William Rockwell, b. Nov. 11, 1704, d. unmarried Apr. 22, 1725, Æ 21 (g.s.)
• iv. Dea. & Dr. Matthew Rockwell, b. Jan. 30, 1707/8, d. Mar. 28, 1782, Æ 75 (g.s.); m. Jan. 19, 1743/4 at Windsor, Jemima Cook, whose death is not of record. Four children recorded at Windsor, Conn.
