Obituary from Salt Lake Tribune (Salt Lake City, UT) - Tuesday, November 23, 1948:
REXBURG, Idaho - Funeral services for Pvt. Clyde J. Hilton, who was killed in action in Italy in April 1945, will be conducted Tuesday at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.T. Hilton, Rexburg. Services will be conducted by Russell Flamm, bishop of the Rexburg First Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Graveside services will be conducted at the Cedar Butte Cemetery.
Pvt. Hilton was born September 24, 1920 at Sugar City [Salem], Idaho. He graduated from the Sugar-Salem high school and married Carol Fullmer, April 8, 1942 at the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.
Three days later he departed to fill a mission for the LDS Church in the North Central States, remaining on the mission for two years. Two months after returning from his mission he entered the military service, leaving for Camp Roberts, California in April 1944. He was attached to the medical department after being sent overseas to Italy where he was killed in action.
The body formerly was interred in the Stelfiorentino Cemetery, approximately 19 miles southwest of Florence, Italy.
Survivors include his widow, Carol Fullmer Hilton, a three-year-old son, Clyde Joel Hilton; his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. C.T. Hilton; a sister, Mrs. Joyce Berry, Rexburg; and four brothers, Glenn Hilton, Salem; Darwin, Ivan, and Eldon Hilton, all of Rexburg. His grandmother, Mrs. Sarah J. Hilton, Salt Lake, also survives.
