On the night of the 15th instant, ... Saturday
The deceased was a man of a peculiar temperament—of a rather hasty disposition, and of reserved manners; but generous and honorable—to borrow the expression of a friend "an everyday gentleman." His remains were taken charge of by Jas. Shaw—deceased's cousin—and will be interred at Bishop Creek. No better eulogy need be pronounced upon him than that he lost his life while trying to prevent bloodshed.

Deceased was 36 years of age and a native of Barnet, Vermont.

Barnet is a small town in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom situated along the Connecticut River. Its five villages are Barnet Village, East Barnet, West Barnet, McIndoe Falls, and Passumpsic.
