OBITUARY :
PATRICIA ANN BUSHEY HIGMAN, of Smithsburg, passed away Sept. 25, 2011, surrounded by her children at Meritus Medical Center after a short illness.

Born Sept. 29, 1935, Pat was the daughter of Mary Hartle Bushey and the late Frank E. Bushey Jr.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, George D. "Jack" Higman, who passed away in November 2008.

Pat graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1953 and then from Hagerstown Business School.

For more than 30 years, she was employed at the family business, the Cavetown Planing Mill, and later worked for G.A. Miller Lumber Co. in Williamsport, Md.

She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Smithsburg, throughout the years serving as Sunday school and nursery teacher.

Pat was an active member of the Smithsburg Community Volunteer Fire Co.'s Ladies Auxiliary, where she continually served as treasurer for many years.

Pat is survived by three daughters, Sharon Frame and husband, Douglas, of Martinsburg, W.Va., Elizabeth Ann Higman and husband, Milton Orndorff, of Cavetown, and Michelle Higman of Hagerstown. Also surviving her is her close and supportive family, including her mother and eight sisters, Jeanne and Jerry Metz, Linda and Stephen Custer, Helen and Richard Reynolds, Matilda and Jack Kirby, Susan and David Witmer, Rebecca Bushey and Jerry Laatsch, Kathleen and John Garrott, and Teresa and Donald Kipe; three brothers, Frank E. III and Kathy Bushey, Richard and Joanne Bushey, and Thomas and Joyce Bushey; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and extended family. She is also survived by a large and caring family of in-laws, their spouses and children.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Bushey; and one sister, Louise Scibilia.

She was a dedicated and loving mother and wife who enjoyed family gatherings, special times with her mother, visiting with friends, including sisters-in-law, Phyrne Higman and Becky Higman, and reminiscing with fellow classmates from the class of 1953.

Services will be Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, with the Rev. Virgil Cain officiating.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Interment will be in Beaver Creek Cemetery, Beaver Creek, Md.
