Jack Lonnie Smith, 92, of Memphis, Tennessee died September 25, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital here in Memphis. He was a World War II Army veteran, retired facilities engineer for Ft. Worth Public Schools, and a member of Central Church in Collierville, Tennessee. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 27 from 5-8 p.m., and funeral services will be on Wednesday, September 28 beginning at 2 p.m., all at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens on Poplar Avenue. Burial will follow in Memphis Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Laverne Smith, his grandson, Christopher Tabbutt, parents, Jeannette Richardson and James Henry Smith; and siblings Edgar, Hiram, Wilburn, Ray, Gus, Fay Smith, Dell Crow and Hazel Kear. He is survived by his daughters, Nancy Avery (Howard) of Memphis and Barbara Tabbutt (Bob) of Cordova; grandchildren, Galen Avery, Mercedes Cooper (Steven), Angie Howe (Wayne) and Jay Avery; great-grandchildren, Dalton and Jordan Avery, and Jessica and Jana Howe; great-great-grandson Mason Howe; nephews and nieces L.C. Smith of McAllen, TX, Mildred Jones of Springer NM, Ted and Orville Kear of Springer, NM, Helen Baldridge of Moses Lake, WA; and James Crow, Billy Don Smith, and Mamie Jeanette Fields all of Whitesboro, TX.
