William Henry Loucks, one of our best known citizens, passed away at 12:30 Saturday afternoon at the Elkhart General hospital. Seriously stricken with an abdominal ailment Thursday, he was taken to the hospital for an X-ray examination, but his condition became so critical it was not attempted. While he had been in ill health for some time, he was able to attend the community sale on Thursday.
Mr Loucks' honor and integrity and love of his family were marks that endeared him to all. He moved to Wakarusa 15 years ago from his farm 2 1/2 miles west of town.

He was the son of the late Jacob and Catherine Freed Loucks, born in Locke township, Elkhart county, on Arpil 26th, 1857 and departed this life in the General hospital in Elkhart on July 14th. His childhood and early manhood was spent on his father's farm in Locke township. On October 26th, 1875, he was united in marriage to Elnora Topper, who survives with the six children, Jacob F of Elkhart, Mrs Henry (Anna) Flory, Jairus Loucks, Mrs Otis (Nora) Culp, Mrs Morris (Dora) Pippinger and Mrs Floyd (Lola) Hahn, twenty-three grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. One son, Joseph, died in infancy. He also leaves two sisters and two brothers, Mrs Mary Dills, Jacob and Jonas Loucks of Wakarusa, and Mrs Anna Shantz of Baden, Ontaria, Canada.

About twenty-some years ago he united with the Holdeman Mennonite church and has been a faithful member since. He passed away as he had lived at peace with his neighbors and his Lord. "Like one who wraps the drapery of his couch about him and lies down to pleasant dreams."

Funeral services were held at Olive church Monday afternoon, conducted by Revs D A Yoder and C A Shank.
