Married Charles Carter Lee when he was 49 and she was 20. They had many children. Their farm in Powhatan County, Virginia was called Windsor Forest. She was the daughter of a prosperous Hanover County planter and the last surviving sister-in-law of Robert E. Lee. She and Charles married in Richmond. Five hundred attended the event. Her gown was adorned with pearls and orange blossoms. She met her attorney husband in Richmond, where she was receiving the best education that city could provide.
