RUSHVILLE — Lloyd H. Hatfield, 90, a resident of the Woodlands in New Castle, formerly of Connersville, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011 in New Castle.

He was born "first month, twelfth day, 1921" in Kerby Knob, Jackson County, Ky., one of eight children of Frank and Sarah Sparks Hatfield and as a teenager moved with his family to Connersville.

During W.W. II, he served with the U. S. Army in the European Theater. Following the war, he returned to Connersville.

On Aug. 9, 1946, he married Velma Jean Knipp. Mrs. Hatfield passed away April 5, 2008.

He was employed at American Kitchens, American Central and later at Design and Manufacturing, retiring in 1985.

He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include five children, Carolyn J. Wagner of Tucson, Ariz., William H. Hatfield and wife, Sylvia of Knightstown, Ruth E. Roy and husband, Tim of Liberty Township, Ohio, Vicky J. Neal and husband, Burl of Greenfield and Richard C. Hatfield and wife, Lois of Rushville; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Freda Miracle of Muncie and Twila Narvarra of Greenwood; a brother, John E. Hatfield of Cambridge City; a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Besides his wife of 61 years, Velma Jean Hatfield, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Lester Hatfield and David Hatfield, and two infant brothers, Albert and Leroy.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, 2011 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home in Connersville with Rev. Eugene Spicer officiating. Military rites conducted by the Fayette County Veterans Council will be in Bentonville Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Woodlands at Forest Ridge or Bentonville Cemetery.
