Eleanor graduated from Montezuma High School and Dodge City Junior College. On April 29, 1951 she married Forrest J. Cox at Dodge City. He survives. She was a homemaker and telephone operator at Southwestern Bell Telephone. She was also a curbhop at the Toot-N-Tellum Drive In during the time the family owned the business.
Besides her husband, Forrest, she is survived by her children, daughter Janet L. Thomas and husband Gary; two sons, Robert S, (Bob) and wife Mitzi Cox and Randall J. (Randy) Cox, daughter Lisa G. Burton and husband Rob all of Dodge City and daughter Diane P. Roberts and husband Morgan of Plainview, Texas; thirteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and great- grandchildren, Alyssa Dawn Thomas-Lopez and Canden Brave Butler.
Public visitation will be Monday, September 26, 2011 from 12:00 to 8:00 PM at Swaim Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at Swaim Funeral Home with Mr. Phil Scott presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove West Cemetery in Dodge City. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
