ESCONDIDO - M. C. "Chuck" Adkins, 81, died Friday, July 18, 2003, of natural causes.
Born April 1, 1922, in Plant City, Fla., he lived in Escondido for four years. He retired in 1978 from civil service.
He served in the U. S. Marine Corps as a corporal with the 1st Marine Division in Guadalcanal.
Mr. Adkins was preceded in death by his daughter, Frances Taylor, on Dec. 27, 2001.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years; two sons and daughters-in-law; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Viewing is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. today, July 24, at Berry-Bell & Hall Mortuary, 333 N. Vine St., in Fallbrook.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26, at Berry-Bell & Hall Mortuary with the Rev. David Plank officiating.
Burial with military honors will follow at noon at Fallbrook Masonic Cemetery. with the Rev. Plank officiating.
The family suggests donations to the Diabetes Association, 225 Broadway, Suite 310, San Diego, CA 92101.
Berry-Bell & Hall Mortuary in Fallbrook is handling arrangements.
