A native of Eupora, Miss, he had lived in Kerrville for more than 40 years. He was a veteran of World War I and came to Kerrville to enter the Veterans hospital. His health improved and several years later he entered the grocery business with the late J.L. Adkins, and almost 20 years ago his family purchased the Vogue, a women's apparel store.
He was a member of the Methodist Church, past president of the Rotary Club, and an active worker in the Chamber of Commerce, the Masonic Lodges, and other civic organizations. He was an ardent promoter and worker for the progress and development of Kerr County and the Hill Country. He was always among the first to congratulate the young people, the Future Farmers, the athletic teams, and other school groups on their achievements.
Many times he would work, far beyond his physical strength, to assist with a worthwhile project, with his courage and determination to help most evident.
His survivors include his wife, of the home address, a son M.W. Cooper, Jr, who is associated with his father in business, a daughter, Mrs. Jack Love of Houston, and two grandchildren. A brother, R.V. Cooper, Jr. of Helena, Ark., and two sisters, Mrs. E.L. Phillips of Columbus, Miss., and Mrs. Milton Powell of Drew, Miss. also survive.
Son of R.V. Cooper
