Marie rode horseback to a one room country school called Spotted Horse School and graduated from eighth grade there. She was baptized in Arthur County Lake. Marie began cooking at the McGinley Ranch in 1938, where she met her future husband, Bud, who was employed as a cowboy there. She moved to Scottsbluff, to stay with her younger sister, Alberta, while Alberta completed high school. She married Bud on Dec. 5, 1940, in Gering and they lived and worked on various ranches in the Sandhills, including the Whitewater Ranch at Flats and the Bailey Ranch in Maxwell.
In 1979 upon retirement, Marie and her husband moved to acreage east of Bridgeport, where they resided until 1993 when Bud's ill health necessitated a move to Gering. Marie was predeceased by her husband on July 4, 1994, and resided in the family home until her death.
Marie was an accomplished seamstress and made all of her husband's western shirts, as well as clothing for her children, often making her own patterns as well.
Her hobbies included crocheting, knitting and quilting. Many handmade gifts were finished in the wee hours of the morning for friends and family. She began quilting at age 65 and her love for her children and grandchildren lives on forever in her beautiful quilts given as gifts to each of them.
Marie is survived by: children, Bradley (Diane), of Cheyenne, Wyo., Morris (Susan), of Raton, N.M., Nelda Robison, of Gering; grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
Marie was preceded in death by: husband; sisters, Lillian Mathews, Ruth Dennis and Alberta McKillip; brothers, Elmer, Albert and Darold Musil and son-in-law, Steve Robison.
