mil: Co. K 5th Ky Cavalry - Union
Sgt. Benjamin Franklin Hardin signed up with Co. K of the 5th Kentucky Cavalry and served the whole term of his enlistment. He was with the Army of the Cumberland for many of their campaigns and ended up with Sherman at the fall of Atlanta and the March to Savannah.
Note: Benjamin's headstone was moved from the Gregory to Patterson Cemetery, Springfield, MO., along with tombstone of his wife, Nancy, and father Madison Harrison Hardin. Descendents moved the stones about 1970, due to the deplorable condition of the Gregory. A FindAGrave memorial exists for Benjamin at Patterson Cemetery, altho his remains are in the Gregory Cemetery.
See memorial #70893007 for photo of Benjamin's tombstone.
