NANCE, JULIA BESS (J.B.)

Julia Bess (J.B.) Nance, age 83, of Waco passed away Thursday, March 20, 2003 at her residence. Graveside services will be held at 11am Saturday, March 22 at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. David Shuttlesworth officiating. Arrangements are through Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd.

Mrs. Nance was born April 14, 1919 in Terrell, Texas to Howard and Lemmie Crofts. Upon graduation from Baylor University she taught school in Rockwall and was a Link instructor for the R.A.F. in Terrell. In 1943 she married H. Hart Nance and in 1946 they moved to Waco where she resided until her death. She was foremost a wife and mother. She taught Sunday School at Columbus Avenue Baptist Church for many years and also was active in the Women's Missionary Union and Internationals Program. At the time of her death she was a member of Park Lake Drive Baptist Church. Mrs. Nance was preceded in death by her husband.

Survivors include daughters, Judi (Mrs. Bob Staton) of Lindale, Texas and Jeanie Phillips of Waco; sons, Dr. H. Hart Nance, Jr. (Latiscia) of Cleburne and Dr. Matthew L. Nance of Houston; grandchildren, Windie Staton, Heidi Dudley, Robert Staton, Kelsey Staton, Travis Phillips, Thomas Phillips, Matthew Phillips, and Alyssa Nance; great grandchild, Staton Hart Dudley; brother, Judge Thomas H. Crofts of Terrell; two nieces and a nephew.
