Helen (Calahan) Hampton, 75, passed away August 20, 2010 in Norman, OK. Helen was born August 27, 1934 in a small town of Tribbey, OK to Jesse and Fannie Pearl (Baker) Calahan. Helen graduated from Sioux Falls, S.D., before her marriage to her husband of 56 years, Charles "Tom" Hampton. Mr. Hampton's career was in the United States Marine Corps, so Helen traveled the world with him while raising a family. She enjoyed cooking and sewing for her family on many different occasions, especially her Christmas parties. Helen was a second mom to many of her children's friends. She was an active member of the Rebecca Lodge. She was a very devoted mother and grandmother, who was fondly nicknamed "Gammie." She is survived by husband, Tom Hampton; son, Mark Hampton and fiancee Glenna Young of Norman; daughter, Kathy Taliaferro of Bayou Vista, TX; sister, Kathryn Brown of Franklin, TX; grandchildren: Jessica Bennett and husband Erin of San Francisco, CA; Lisa Hiroms and husband James of Galveston, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents; nine brothers and sisters: Vivian, Vera, Ennis, Richard, Ira, Ellen, Jean, Ramona, and Darlena. Services will be held graveside 10:00 AM, Tues., August 24, 2010, in Council Creek Cemetery, east of Slaughterville, OK.
