Arthur "Red" Akers 89, Indianapolis, passed away February 19, 2011. He was born in Linton, IN to Orville and Nannie Akers. He was married to Imogene Akers.
He is survived by two sons, Gerald and Terry Sr. Akers; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. He was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Police and was a retired lithographic printer. Mr. Akers was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene; son, Arthur Stewart Akers; his parents; three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 23, 2011 in Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Chapel of the Chimes, with visitation there from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 22.
