SHERMAN W. CHAFFIN OF TOWN OF RIPON IS DEAD

Ripon, Wis. -(Special)-Sherman W. Chaffin, 66, a prominent town of Ripon farmer and official died suddenly at his home, three miles northwest of Ripon at about 5 o'clock this morning. He had not been ill previously, but had a slight heart ailment.

The deceased was the son of James and Amelia Chaffin pioneer residents of this locality, Mr. Chaffin was born in the town of Ripon and had always resided in this locality. He served in official capacity for the town, being a member of the school board at various times and he was town assessor at the time of his death, having been chosen at the last election. For a number of years, he was a stock buyer for his 200 acre farm.

He was united in marriage to Fannie Fuller of the town of Ripon in 1899. Survivors include his wife, three brothers, H. J. Chaffin of town of Ripon; Henry of Ripon and Aaron of Pickett; and one sister, Mrs. Sadie Fuller of the town of Ripon. Arrangements for the funeral have not yet been made.
