Alice M. Ahlbrand, 75, 333 S. Park Dr., Seymour, died at 8:30 a.m. Monday, May 11, at her home following an extended illness.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour, where she was a member of Ladies Aid No.1; the Lutheran Community Home Auxiliary, and the Valparaiso guild. She was a member the Valparaiso Guild. She was president of the Jackson County Hospital Guild for many years.
A lifelong resident of Jackson County, she was born May 2, 1912, in Seymour to the late Adolph and Minnie Schepman Steinwedel.
On Jan. 3, 1931, she married Albert E. Ahlbrand in New Albany and he survives.
Other survivors include five children: Mrs. Gerald (Judith) McGinley and Albert C. Ahlbrand, both of Seymour; Richard Ahlbrand, Newburgh; A. James Ahlbrand, Bloomfield Hills, Mich. and Philip Ahlbrand, Indianapolis; one sister; Mrs. Helen Armstrong, Seymour; 20 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 13, at Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ralph Blomenberg officiating. Burial was in the Lutheran Cemetery Seymour, Burkholder Funeral Home , Seymour, handled the arrangements.
Memorials may be designated to the Jackson County Hospital Guild, Jackson County Hospital intensive coronary care unit or Bethesda Lutheran Home.
