Doris Arlene Bergsmith, 85, of Genoa, Ill., died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011. Born Nov. 19, 1925, in Kirkland, Ill., the daughter of William E. and Clara A. (Bacon) Littlejohn, she married Clifford C. Bergsmith on Nov. 24, 1946, in Capron, Ill.; he predeceased her in 1983.
Survivors include her daughter, Lin (Robert) Keeler; grandson, Jerome T (Amanda) Sester and their children; stepgranddaughters, Dana (Gregory) Gautcher and their children and Holly Both; sister, Norma J. McLarning; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Lena Harris, Marion Scott, Helen Stein, Georgiabelle Uphoff and Ruth Eklund; and brothers, Lavern, Harry, Francis, Elmer, Ray, William, Walter Leroy, Maynard, Oscar and Clifford at birth.
Visitation will be held from 2-3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, at Slater-Butala Funeral Home, Genoa. Graveside services will follow at 3:30 p.m. at North Kingston Cemetery in Genoa with the Rev. Daniel Diss officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to DeKalb County Hospice or Faith United Methodist Church of Genoa.
