From FAG Member Gene Zubrinsky:

Am(m)iel “Ammi/Mial” Penn(e)y, son of William2 and Deborah (Weeks) Penny, was born in Harwich, Massachusetts, 18 July 1746 and was baptized there the following 24 August. He died on his farm in Lorraine, Jefferson County, New York, 16 February 1816 (aged 70), a mile or two south of the cemetery, in the adjacent town of Adams, where he is interred. Many of those living in the northern parts of neighboring Lorraine and Ellisburgh identified strongly with Adams Village, where they worshipped, attended school, patronized stores—and were buried.

The first three of Ammiel’s children were with his first wife, [Bethiah?] (Bangs), daughter of Samuel Bangs and probably Hannah (Wing); the remaining six were with his second wife, Hannah (Haviland)—she, like Ammiel, died in Lorraine—daughter of Solomon and Hannah (Carpenter) Haviland. All nine children were born in present-day Southeast, Putnam County, New York.

An oft-repeated Penny family record asserts that Ammiel’s maternal grandfather, George Wicks, was sent from England as a missionary to the Indians on Cape Cod. While George Week(e)s (his correct name) did minister to the Indians, he was born in Dorchester, Massachusetts, 20 March 1688/9, son of Am(m)iel and Abigail (Trescott) Week(e)s.
