Laura Mozell (Caruthers) Woods passed away on August 4, 2011 at the Village House with her grandson Denny holding her hand and praying her home to heaven.
Laura (Mozell) was born in Salem (Fulton County) Arkansas on October 23, 1934 the daughter of Odd William and Glennis Ruth (Dawson) Caruthers. She was raised in Salem, where she played Girls Basketball for the Salem High School Greyhounds and met her future husband John Edward Woods. She later moved to Kansas City, Mo area with John following shortly after. John and Mozell married, worked and had 2 daughters- Johnnie and Jana. Mozell cared for her family while working in various positions for Allstate, Osco Drug, and Benchmark. She continued to work and remained active well into her 60's
She is preceded in death by her husband John and daughter Johnece. Also, a sister Samantha Jewell (Caruthers) Wiggins, brother-in-law Floyd Basil Wiggins.
Survivors include her daughter Jana Stites, grandchildren Dennis, Laura and Amanda. 3 great grand children Andrew Dennis Betz, Eliana Rae Betz, and Aleisa Mae Betz. niece Linda Gail Miller, niece Sherry Fuqua, great niece Samantha Christine Williams, great nephew, Charles Lincoln Williams, Great nephew Jesse Guy Richardson, and great nephew Justis Randall Williams.
