She was the young, divorced, girl next door in need of a job. She helped care for pregnant Martha Adams and her many children until Martha's death shortly after giving birth. Sarah soon married Martha's widower, James, and continued to have his children and helped support the family by selling eggs and other produce in town (while her husband made moonshine).

ii. Aubrey Lee (1885-1951), m. 1st Loucinda "Cinda" Short, 2nd Ethel Hubbard

iii. Cassie E. (1897-1900), died of the flu.

iv. Margaret Genoa "Mag" (1900-1981), m. 1st John Virgil Kazee, 2nd Samuel "Sam" Sturgill

v. Nora (1902-1905), died in tragic fireplace accident.

vi. Kitty Lake (1904-1957), died in a tragic house fire. m. John R. Welch.

vii. Earl "Tom" Desmone (1907-1926), died in car accident.

viii. Fanny Wolf (1909-2003), m. Ollie Salyer
