Katy Holland McDowell Treadwell Cobb
In 1822, at the age of seven, Katy Holland migrated to Texas with her Parents as a member of Stephen F Austin's Old 300 Colony. Her life reflects the harshness of frontier life in Texas. Twice widowed before her marriage to William Cobb in the 1840's, she was the mother of five children. Her first husband, Mill McDowell, was also a member of Austin's Colony, and a cousin, Tapley Holland, was killed at the Alamo.
*Note:Katy married Mill McDowell, who died about 1840. They had 2 children: Elizabeth b:
4/27/1838 and Samuel, b: 7/20/1840. After McDowell's death she married John Treadwell,
they had one son, John Treadwell, who married Ariola Leonivinia. After Treadwell's
death, Katy later married William Cobb, she had 5 children: Henry (b:1847), William
(b:1848), Frank, who married Cally Barrett; Thomas (b:1849) who married Sarah Gayle and
Robert Cobb.
