Clydia "Clyde" Comer, 96, of Elbert, McDowell County, formerly of Beckley, died February 8, 1997 in a Bluefield hospital. She was a licensed Church of God Minister. Surviving daughters, Athalene Oaks of Converse, Madelyn Gross of Elbert; sons, Thurman Meadows of Troutdale, Oregon, the Reverend Glen Meadows of Umatilla, Florida; sister, Nina Nicely of Slab Fork; grandson, whom she raised, Bill Mutter of Granite City, Illinois; 14 additional grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, three great-great- grandchildren. several nieces and nephews. Service will be Wednesday at First Church of God, Lester, with the Reverend Dale Birchfield officiating. Burial will be in Calfee Cemetery, Mount Tabor.
