Edith Mae Spoo, age 78, a resident of Litchfield, MN, died January 25, 1999, at her residence in Litchfield.
Funeral services were held January 28 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Litchfield with Reverend Anthony Bertram officiating. Interment was at Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield.
Edith was born February 4, 1920, in Judith Gap, MT, to Weldon M. and Myrtle G. (Horkey) Yaple. She attended school at Medford, OR, but after the death of her parents when she was 15, she moved with her brother to Sequim, WA, where she graduated in 1939. Edith married Henry E. Spoo in Arcata, CA, on January 21, 1940. Together they lived in Arcata until 1942 when they moved to Estherville, IA. In 1957 they moved to Upsala, MN, where they lived until Henry retired. After retiring in 1981, they moved to Sauk Centre, MN, until 1996 when they moved to Litchfield where they lived at the present time. Edith was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, participating in the quilting and church circles, the Lutheran Women Missionary League and the church women�s Bible study.
Survivors include her husband, Henry; two daughters, Linda Spoo and Judy Spoo, both of Litchfield; one son, Gerald Spoo and wife Sherry of Elk River, MN; one grandson, Shawn of Elk River; two granddaughters, Tammy Spoo of St. Francis, MN, and Heather Spoo of Elk River; one brother, Glenn Yaple of Klamath Falls, OR; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and -nephews and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Weldon and Myrtle Yaple; five brothers, Lawrence, Vern, Harold, James and Walter and one sister, Genevieve Wordal.
