James Alfred Abbott was born March 12, 1925 and departed this life Tuesday, September 20, 2011 reaching the age of 86. He was the son of the late George and Artie Abbott.
He was united in marriage to Geneva Anderson and to this union 2 children were born.

He is survived by: his wife, Geneva Abbott of Monticello, KY; 1 son, David Abbott of Somerset, KY; 1 daughter, Reeda Sue Worley of Oklahoma City, OK; 3 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren. He is also survived by: 1 sister, Dorothy Coffey of Monticello, KY; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents, George and Artie Abbott, he was preceded in death by: 6 brothers, Coy, Roy, Robert, Claude, Obie, and Elmer Abbott; and 2 sisters, Lona Abbott and Minnie Vaughn.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 22, 2011 from 6 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 23, 2011 at 1 pm at the Marvin S. Hicks Funeral Home. Burial will be in Elk Spring Cemetery. Military honors will be performed by DAV Chapter 105.
