Velma Louise Born, 79, of Elizabethton, passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2011 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. She was born in Carter County to the late Roy and Bess Buck Isaacs and was of the Baptist Faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Born; a brother, Rex Isaacs and a sister Blanche Waycaster.

Mrs. Born is survived by a son, Ned Isaacs of Elizabethton and a granddaughter, Bethany Isaacs, Hampton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service for Mrs. Born will be conducted on Tuesday, September, 20, 2011 at 8:00 PM in the Rhododendron Chapel ~ Tetrick Funeral Home ~ Roan Mountain, with Rev. John Stevens officiating. Music will be under the direction of Jennifer Crabtree. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 6:00 -8:00 PM Tuesday prior to the service and at the residence of Deani Smith, 123 Albs Road, Hampton at other times.

The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at 1:00 PM the Isaacs Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Tommy Hughes, Ned Smith, Josh Smith, James "Tip" Smith, Jack Smith and her nephews. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:30 PM on Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
