Mrs. Dominica Somers, age 92, one of the oldest residents of the town of Amherst, died Thursday evening at 8:45 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Kubisiak. She had been in ill health for several years, but was up and about until three weeks ago. Since then she had been confined to bed.
Mrs. Somers, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Buza, was born in Poland and came to this country at the age of seven with her parents. The family settled on a farm in the town of Sharon where she married the late John Somers, who died 56 years ago. After the death of her husband, Mrs. Somers and children located on a farm in Amherst, which in later years was known as the J.J. Somers farm. She lived there 43 years. Since then she had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Kubisiak.
Surviving are six children, Mrs. John Domack of Oshkosh, Mrs. Kubisiak of Amherst, J.J. Somers of Stevens Point, Mrs. Michael Loftis and Mrs. Felix Dreyfka of Milwaukee and Bert Somers of the town of Stockton, 55 grandchildren, 71 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grand-children. A son preceded her in death. Mrs. Somers was the last surviving member of a family of five, three brothers and a sister have preceded her in death.
Mrs. Somers was a member of the Rosary Society and the Third Order of St. Francis.
Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 9:30 o'clock at St. Mary's Catholic church at Fancher. The body is at the Junges funeral home at Amherst and will be taken Saturday afternoon to the Kubisiak home where the rosary will be said Saturday and Sunday evenings.
