Obituary for Rufus Perry, Taylor Daily Press, Monday June 7, 1948, page 6.

"Rufus Perry of Hobbs, New Mexico, a former Thorndale resident, was killed Saturday night four miles north of Big Springs, Texas. Mr. Perry was en route to the valley for produce when a pick-up truck, believed to have been driven by a Mexican, hit his truck from the rear. Apparently Mr. Perry lost control of his truck from the impact and it over turned. It was not learned at Press time if the occupants of the pick-up truck suffered injuries.

Mr. Perry, born February 19, 1912 in Thorndale, just recently moved to New Mexico. He was married in June 1939 to Henrietta Sefeik, who survives him.

Survivors other than his wife are four children, Dorothy Nell, Betty Sue, Jerry Dean and Harela Perry of Hobbs, N.M.; his father, C.T. Perry of Thorndale, three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Sefeik of Taylor, Mrs. Ivy Dawson of Quanah, and Mrs. Annie Brock of Bueces, Tex., and two brothers, William and George Perry both of Thorndale.

The body will remain at the Condra Funeral Chapel until Tuesday afternoon when it will be taken to the Salty Church where services will be conducted at three o'clock. The Rev. T.F. Collier will officiate. Burial will be in the Salty cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Harold Pritehard, Dean Stiles, Alvis Campbell, Ollie Organ, Archie Sides and Ernest Parton."
